I set the clock in motion
30 minutes
Watching a half full circle
The timer doesn’t tick
Just slowly recedes
Tide from a beach
Armies fleeing a foe
I thrash the keyboard
Clack, clack, clack
Thought untouched by thought
Clattering down onto a page
Doesn’t matter if they’re good or bad
The timer notes them anyway
It’s counting me now
As I write this poem.
