Jamie Maddison is an accomplished Explorer, nominated National Adventurer of the Year, equestrian Long Rider and Content Strategist. He first cut his teeth in the world of journalism working for the British rock-climbing magazine Climber. Since that time, he has mounted a host of exploratory expeditions across the Central Asian republics of the former Soviet Union, including: riding horses 800 miles across the central plains of Kazakhstan, running seven and a bit marathons across an uncrossed desert, embedding with environmental protestors in Armenia, exploring unvisited valleys in Kyrgyzstan’s Tien Shan mountains, and living with indigenous communities in both Tajikistan and Mongolia.
His working passion is storytelling, the written word and the pursuit of content excellence. As a journalist, he’s written for a range of publications, including Lonely Planet; Geographical; Diplomat, Kiosk; Hidden Europe; Climber; Men’s Running; Culture24 and, for news reporting, in The West Briton, South Wales Echo and The Cornish Guardian newspapers. As an editor, Jamie helped launch Sidetracked Magazine, one of the outdoor adventure industry’s most popular publications, later transitioning to the editorship of Love Nature, using content to drive brand awareness and product uptake. He now works as a content strategist, based in London, helping develop the content marketing framework and process for a range of multinational businesses and brands.
On a personal level, when he gets a chance, Jamie actively demonstrates the power of content marketing—as well as his speaking and presenting skills—through his personal expeditions to Asia on behalf of sponsoring organisations. In sport, Jamie has climbed Font 7B, pole-vaulted 3-metres, ran 56 miles to Brighton solo, and raced a 4:34 mile.
