Beginnings | I began my freelance career in 2009, writing for Climber Magazine and its website www.climber.co.uk. Over the course of two and half years I covered all aspects of the climbing and outdoor world, conducting interviews with top climbers, reviewing gear and traveling to international climbing destinations. I was also responsible for a monthly  2000-word feature on bouldering, dubbed ‘Bouldering Beta’, that was quite popular, ultimately running for 21 editions.

Newspapers | I have written for a number of newspapers, including the West Briton, Cornish Guardian and the South Wales Echo on topics as varied as Muslim community centres, film festival reviews, noisy pub landlords and Christmas day shift workers.  Consequently, I know all about the pressures of deadline work as well as what makes a story suitable for the regional or national press. If your organisation requires a freelance reporter or photographer and you would like to see what skills I can offer, then please visit the Services section for more information.

Travel Writing | I have traveled extensively, in close to thirty countries right across the world.  I’ve always explored with a camera in hand but over the past few years I’ve also taken to travel writing and have reported from countries such a Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, South Africa and France. These articles have gone to press in a variety of publications including the prestigious Hidden Europe magazine, The Spektator, West Cape Escape, Sidetracked and Climber Magazine.
